I love interviewing our “doitwell” consultants from around the world. It’s fascinating to see destinations and attractions from their point of view, but this time it’s my turn to experience something new in my hometown and share it with you through our blog: Visiting around top destinations!
I’m Italian, born and raised in the Campania Region in southern Italy. I grew up in a town near Naples, but for the past 10 years, I have been residing in Rome.

Naples will always be in my heart, and every time that I return, I breathe! I don’t care much for the famous quote “See Naples and die”, I prefer, “See Naples and discover”.
I could give you an endless list of adjectives that for me describe the city, Naples is: fascinating, infinite, enveloping, hospitable, friendly, and simply unforgettable.
Its origins are very ancient. According to mythology, Parthenope was one of the Sirens who tried to bewitch Ulysses with their singing. However, he succeeded in resisting and desperate Parthenope, desperate chose to throw herself in the sea. Her body ended up on the rock of the island of Megaride considered the first nucleus of the future Neapolis founded by the Greeks.
In the past couple of years, the city has become more popular for tourists. I had a fantastic experience that gave me the chance to see the city from the water. Were you thinking I would be on a boat?

I was in a kayak for a 2-hour excursion starting from Posillipo, exploring rare views of Naples from the water. It is easily reachable by car, there is a parking area (free), and from there you can reach the beach in a few minutes by foot. The staff is extremely nice and it was easy to find information on Google by searching “kayaknapoli”. As a potential guest it was also helpful to see their active engagement on Facebook and Instagram. I noticed their sponsored events and many social media followers.
As Attractions Expert at doitwell I have the task of exploring what surrounds me, mainly in Rome where I live, but also whenever I travel with the aim of living the Guest Experience.
That afternoon around 18.30, I enjoyed the “aperitif at sunset in a kayak” which takes place from May to September (weather permitting). The staff was really prepared, with a rescue license; (Normally one kayak is for two people).

The instructors suggested not to race, but to enjoy the water. The tour starts from Posillipo and touches point as Marechiaro, a fishing village, the protected area of Gaiola Island, inside the Archeological Parc “Pausilypon” which literally means “pain relief”.
At various times throughout the tour, instructors explained different points of interest in Gulf of Naples all lead up to a spectacular sunset paired with a glass of wine.
It was a feeling that I can’t explain through words. The sea was crystal clear and, with the imposing and unique Vesuvius, was just magnificent!
It is a 360-degree experience, perfect for me! As an attractions expert, these are the things that I need to discover in the world! This kayaking excursion has all the pleasures of life, art, landscape, and good wine.

My eye as an art historian and amateur photographer often allows me to, appreciate the small details of beautiful places.
Often I think about the benefit of a tourist experience: What it is that creates an unforgettable moment whit I like to “entice” the customer in a moment of well-being that seemingly never stops!
I felt this sensation throughout this small kayak adventure. It was a couple of hours of great well being for the body and the mind!
And when you have finished with the aperitif, don’t forget that you are in one of the most amazing culinary cities in the world!
My wonderful day ended with a great pizza.
For me, pizza is a sacred ritual, and although I enjoy different kinds, I always end up ordering a true classic, the Margherita with Buffalo Mozzarella Dop.
Naples has magical aspects from sunrise to sunset: the colors, the sounds, and the sea. What unforgettable experience will you have?
